Joining Harpenden Music Makers
We are always on the lookout for prospective new members so if you think you might enjoy being part of the choir then come along and try it out. Ability to read music well, while useful, is not a requirement. A good voice and plenty of enthisiasm are much more important.
If this sounds like you then contact Scott Prentice or come along to any of our rehearsals (8pm on Wednesday evenings at Harpenden Methodist Church on the High Street) and introduce yourself.
Singing is good for you
We conducted a survey amongst our members to build up a picture of the different influences of choral singing. The question was simple: Why come to Music Makers? The answers were many and varied
| I like singing and helping to create a musical experience for others to enjoy. | Much more fun than singing alone in the bath and a lot cheaper than going to the gym! | ||||
| It's a good group activity which keeps the grey matter moving and is good exercise. | We work hard in rehearsals, but there is always time to have a good laugh! | ||||
| After a stressful day, having a good sing with Music Makers is positively therapeutic and challenging! | I've been a member of Music Makers for years. It is a cracking group and a pleasure to work with them all | ||||
| I get a real buzz from singing and Music Makers has always made me feel welcome. | It's good exercise for the vocal chords. Anyway, I love the sound of applause! | ||||
| Of all the choirs I've sung with, this is the one I enjoy the most, with its challenging, stimulating and varied scores. | I enjoy learning a variety of songs and hearing the great results at all our concerts | ||||
| It's fun! An evening's singing with the Music Makers is guaranteed to drive away any blues. | Other choirs have come and gone. Music Makers is still going strong! |
